National and international manufacturers will be vying for one of the nation's most prestigious awards at the 2019 Henty Machinery Field Days, held on 17 to 19 September 2019.
The HMFD Machine of the Year Award is the most coveted on the field day circuit and was won last year by South Australian hay rake manufacturer, Simon Schinckle, with his Schinckle Next F Series V-rake.
Highly commended was the Post Straightener developed by two mates, Daryl Irving and Dan Robinson, of Mudgee, NSW. A total of 24 machines and equipment at the cutting edge of agricultural technology were showcased in the 2018 Henty Machine of the Year.
Announced on the opening day, this award is presented to the most outstanding new piece of agricultural machinery exhibited at the field days.
It was judged by an independent panel of regional primary producers on the Monday and presented the following day at the field days official opening.
In many cases the winning machine has gone on to become a standard piece of equipment on farms throughout Australia.
Judging criteria include the machine's purpose and suitability, scope of application, construction (durability and design), ease of maintenance and service, ease of operation and adjustment, availability of parts and overall value for money.
The Henty Machinery Field Days will be held on 17 to 19 September 2019, and showcases around $120 million worth of machinery and goods on-site.
Greater Hume Council sponsors the Best Australian Designed and Manufactured Machine to be presented on Thursday 19 September.
More than 800 national and international agricultural and commercial businesses will be eligible for the HMFD Exhibitor Awards at the 2019 field days.
Farm inventors, backyard tinkerers and students are encouraged to enter their innovative ideas in the Agri-Innovators Award.
